bonus: the two games that've eaten my attention span lately (other than FFXIV) are Wildermyth and Monster Hunter Stories 2. the first one is like... you basically play as a band of heroes in one of five campaigns, or in 3/5 chapter long 'generic' campaigns, both of which are padded out by having random events and storylines pop up that cause changes in your characters. the changes range from stuff like 'find a friendly magpie that becomes a bonus action for your character' to 'pull a gem out of a statue and have it go in place of one of your eyes, thus slowly changing you to a gem person' to 'frog head'. characters can also form friendships, rivalries, and fall in love amongst each other, have kids that join your party in a chapter or two, and even show up later in other campaigns because Wildermyth is more like a collection of stories in the same book than one continuous timeline. it plays like a top-down strategy game, and the characters move like standee pieces on a gameboard. it's come a long way from early access and the music and art style is just... very pretty, very soothing.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 makes me happy because I can actually do the monster hunt i have terrible reflexes i am so bad at the main games but I like riding around on my monsters and customizing them with various skills. the art's cute and the battle style is a rock-paper-scissors tossup where you watch a monster's tells to see what it's about to throw at you. i crave mon game minerals.

I've been playing a lot of Picross lately! I love puzzles. Didn't we used to have Picross in Colors, too...?

Picross, huh? Puzzle games are definitely ones that can be rather difficult, but are pretty satisfying to solve. And it seems like there's a message here that someone wants to tell you...? Let this old geezer read it aloud for you. "There used to be a Picross game in Colors, in fact." Oh, looks like that answers that question! Oh, and hold on, there's one more thing? "There's even a Picross game that I like that came out recently, I wonder if the game would count for a Colors deck"... Huh. Dunno what that means, but maybe that's something for you to find out? You can't just say 'other than FFXIV' and not tell this old man about it! That's almost unfair. But you are telling me about two other games, so I'll let it slide this time around. But playing as a band of heroes, huh... sounds like some of those Dungeons and Dragons games that have been getting popular overseas lately. It sounds like tons of fun, though! And there also seems to be a lot of things you can do, too. It gets this old man's star of approval. ✰ And monsters! Ahaha, hunting them down must be pretty difficult if you're struggling with the main games... but it's good you're having fun, and that's a great way to implement janken, too! i've been playing spiritfarer myself- it's a game where you're the new ferryman of the dead, and you care for ghosts on your house-boat and help them finish whatever business they need to pass on. it's a game about death and love and loss and even though i've finished it once already it still makes me cry...

That's definitely not a kind of game I expected to hear here — but I guess I'm just getting old! A 'ferryman of the dead' is definitely pretty spooky. Fits the whole Halloween thing. I'm not too fond of games that make people cry, but I guess in this case it's a good, emotional cry. Stories really can do that to people, can't it? That's why people play games like that! Maybe I'll even get a chance to play it someday... getting this old man to tears will certainly be a new one! As thanks for sharing, here's your candy. Happy Halloween!

I've picked New Pokemon Snap back up and have been really enjoying it. I just finished the campaign yesterday. It's a really relaxing game, yet sort of challenging if you want to do all the requests too. I recommend it!

For something that's made me smile, I just recently found out that Vikings would give kittens to new brides as a wedding present and it should totally be brought back as a tradition.

Something that makes me smile is actually game related - My mom has been playing genshin and I've been having fun playing co-op with her. That's half the fun! :D

I'm also way behind the times and have been watching Adventure Time and that can always bring a smile to my face. Without a doubt. It just delights me.

So I finished Deltarune Chapter 2 recently and. It was really good!! I love all the new characters, and the development the old characters had, and it was a great time. It's best played relatively blind so I won't say too much more-

Also the developer released it for free to cheer everyone up after a hard year, which was a nice surprise.
